Bookmarks. Placeholders. Allowing one to return to a place or point in a timeline. Each piece on this album represents an era of my performing set for the better part of 22 years as a Stick player. Some pieces are reinterpretations of another’s work, while some are a straight performance (a mirror reflection?) . Also included are re-recordings of two older works from my first album WARFARE (1999): ‘What Has Been Will Be Again’ and ‘Listening and Waiting’. Metheny/Mays’ ‘As Wichita Falls…’ serves as an intro for ‘Listening’. ‘We’re Where We Were’ is the only new composition for this album, having been written between the recording and release of my previous recording FIRST CONTACT (2016).
